I've done the Tauck Vietnam tour and have traveled Japan on my own. I'd recommend Japan.

I'm a Vietnam veteran so going back to Vietnam was special for me. But even with all that, I'd choose Japan over VCT. (you might say the tour was my second visit to Vietnam )]
