Water Shoes for Tanzania Trip

A quick question: Besides good walking shoes, are "water shoes" essential (e.g. Tevas) for this trip? I assume flip-flops are good for pool, etc.

    Water shoes are not essential for this trip. Yes, flip-flops are fine for the pool.
