1st Day of Rendezvous trip Aug 2026
We have 3 options for our first day in Paris, prior to the river cruise. Can you give any thoughts on the 3 different choices? 1-Guided Tour of city:Hotel des Invalides, Musee de I'Armee and Bonaparte's tomb,2- tour of Marais district OR 3- Walking tour exploring Ile de la Cite. We are 2 couples who have never been to Paris. On the conclusion of the river tour we will be staying in the 1st arrondisement area for 4 nights.

Since you will be staying additional nights the Marais makes sense. The Place des Voges is great to see. From our first visit I remember children building sand castles.
When you stay later make sure you tour the Ile de la Cite and go into Notre Dame. You should also go to la Sainte Chapelle. The stained glass windows are phenomenal. It comes with a joint ticket to the Conciergerie which was the prison. At the end of the Ile de la Cite there's a deportation museum at the end of the island behind Notre Dame.
I'd suggest you get Rick Steves pocket guidebook for Paris. There are so many places you should enjoy. They range from museums - both the known ones (the Louvre and the D'Orsay) and smaller ones such as the Marmottan and the Orangerie. Walk through the Luxembourg Gardens and watch children sailing boats on the pond. Your interests will determine which of the many options that you choose.
