What to Wear
Please share what you know about the "special Golden Evening" event. The planner says "guests are invited to wear elegant black and gold attire." Is that formalwear? Cocktail dress? Just wanting to pack the right items.

Can you specify the full name of this tour? Land tour? Small ship?
Crikey, yes, which tour is that!
This is Exploring the Douro, Madrid, Lisbon on a small ship.
Do you mean a riverboat?
ok -- riverboat. The question is about the "Golden Evening" event. Has anyone been to one of these as described above? The planner says each river cruise features a special Golden Evening and describes the attire as "elegant black and gold."
Thanks for the clarification. This is a river cruise and one of our favorites. It appears they are having a special evening. Other than the “signature” chef’s dinner, we had no other special onboard event.
I know in 2025 there was a “Roaring Twenties” party to celebrate Tauck’s 100th birthday. It was held in the lounge area after dinner and participation was voluntary. You did not have to dress 1920s style in order to participate. I surmise this event will be similar.
Sounds like fun to me! No formal attire is necessary. I would just wear the ubiquitous little black dress accessorized with some gold costume jewelry and/or scarf. My husband always takes a suit jacket when traveling, so he would just add a tie with some gold/yellow in it.
When they did the 1920s theme, Tauck even had some props/accessories for their guests to borrow. Again, participation is voluntary.
I look forward to your comments about your experiences. It was such a wonderful tour. Enjoy.
Thanks that was helpful.
Just have fun. That’s all that matters.
