Classic Italy, Small Groups - June 4-17, 2026

Anybody going on this tour? Can’t wait!

Is anyone else thinking about trying to squeeze in a Colosseum tour in Rome on Monday, June 8? It sounds like scheduling June 7 won’t be an option since it’s the “free” first Sunday of the month for all of Italy. I’m guessing our morning tour will be among major crowds on June 7.

I booked a cancelable evening Colosseum arena tour on June 8 from 5-7 pm. I’m hoping this is safely clear of the Vatican City plans. I figured if I waited to talk to the tour director about it that the tours would be booked up by then.

If anybody has a better idea of the timing of our itinerary or a better Colosseum plan, let me know. A.I. thinks we will be with Tauck from 8:30-12:30 for the other ancient sites based on past tours. I can’t find any better intel than that.

Thanks in advance,

Zack and Jill Prout

It’s not unusual for anything Tauck schedules in Rome to be changed. I think your plan is the best you can do, a refundable tour if you find you can’t make it. If it doesn’t happen, maybe you will be in Rome again some day, a tour that begins or ends in Rome so that you can add on a few days to see more.
Note there are other Roman ‘Colosseums’ in other countries that are just as impressive that you may come across on your future travels.

Check out these top five, I’ve been to four of them

Smart to make it refundable. And I agree, Rome is particularly problematic for schedule changes. Even if you could find someone with specific info, it still could change.

Thank you both! Good to know!
