Luggage limit weights
We just received our final documents and the weight limit for your checked in luggage bag is 44 lbs. I was wondering if past tours had this limit and if so, were they strict about this and the measurements not to exceed 62 inches overall. Also, the carry on is not to exceed 15 lbs.
Just checking - sometimes they say this and then they still let you have 50 lb limit!

That’s like asking If the speed limit is posted at 55 can you still drive 60. The answer is not legally if someone wants to press the issue.
When we did that tour a couple of years ago Tauck had published the limit to be 50 lbs, which we met, but the airline in Indonesia changed it to 44. The TD said it would be a function of who checked our bags. Turns out the agent that checked ours went by the rules. Tauck paid the overage fee because we had met Tauck’s posted limit.
So the answer to all of those questions is it might be fine, meaning no one makes an issue of it, but on the other hand they might. If you choose to roll the dice, then be prepared that you MIGHT have to pay an over the limit fee of some sort.
We’ve never had bags that weigh anything near 50 lbs for Tauck tours including this one.
Smiling Sam is spot-on......After working for the airlines for 35 years (now retired), I recommend sticking with the allowable maximum luggage weight, size, and restrictions. I always use my crew Travelpro Rollaboard and a small REI under-the-seat backpack without any surprises or issues. It's no fun trying to negotiate a pound or two overage at the ticket counter or gate, especially when you know the rules and what's expected. The important thing is to go have FUN!
Thanks for the answers! Since Tauck put it in writing in the final documents they are probably enforcing it and won't pay any extra charges for customers. Just wanted to check on this and we will keep under 44 lbs!
