Well it all depends on whether you believe in global warming. We starting traveling to Europe in 2014 and it's gotten nothing but warmer and more difficult to predict. We've been in heat waves in Normandy, England, Ireland and Italy in Oct was miserable. The only hope is the Europe will start providing more AC in areas they used to not bother. I've taken to packing a small rechargeable electric fan that I can use when the AC isn't available and a packable sun hat. And we don't book Jul or Aug.
You can look at historical averages at websites like weather spark, but that's just an average. No guarantee.
If you are traveling soon, you can look up the ten day forecasts for the cities you will be traveling in.
I assume the tour directors may have to change itineraries, maybe start earlier in the day, curb lengths of activities, skip one and do something else, provide more water etc.
To put things in perspective, I read a few days ago that of the seven continents, Europe is experiencing the most detrimental effects of climate change—both now and in the future.
To that end, I do not follow static data sources that give average temperatures. As British suggests, looking at ten-day outlooks as your trip approaches will allow you the flexibility of adjusting your packing choices. Layering and not touring in summer works best for me.
If the Gulf stream and the North Atlantic Current get disrupted by global warming, northern Europe could get a lot colder in the winter.
Somewhat a 2nd order effect, but I just got notice from Tauck that our June 28th Romantic Capitals: Paris to Prague river cruise got cancelled due to low water level in the Danube.
Really! Did they offer any alternatives?
They looked but could not find alternatives. Tauck did offer two free nights at the hotel so that we had time to book flights home.
Sorry. This was about the Prague to Paris June 19 tour that was canceled before we reached the cruise portion.
I have a feeling that the ship you were supposed to be on was down river from Regensberg which is the shallowest part of the river and there was no ship to swap with.
Correct. A special pilot was brought onboard. I could watch the progress online. It was constantly moving throughout the night. At seven in the morning we were told it could not make it. There was no other ship with which we could swap.
