10/15/26 A Week in Portugal
Excited for our upcoming Small Group tour. Any suggestions, advice or general comments from those who have been on this tour in the past? And the old question - did men wear sport jackets and ties?
Recommendations from those in the planning stages as to activities you’ve planned for downtime?

Oops - I just now noticed your tour is not until mid October. Ignore my comments about hot weather. My error, my apologies.
I have been on several longer tours but not this specific one. Portugal can be extremely hot during the summer months. I recommend checking the ten-day weather outlooks as your trip approaches and plan your attire accordingly.
Porto
The gondola ride offers beautiful views of the cities on both sides of the river. The train station has some beautiful blue tiles—azulejos. Livraria Lello is a historic bookstore with a beautiful staircase. The waterfront area is great for strolling, people watching and eating. If you are tempted to purchase cork products, I prefer to do so in Porto instead of Coimbra or Lisbon.
Lisbon
Avenida da Liberdade is a beautiful tree-lined boulevard with mosaic limestone walkways. They can be very treacherous to walk on when wet. We enjoy exploring and eating in the Alfama district. You might enjoy a Fado performance there. If you like octopus, the best we have had has been in Portugal.
Attire is very much a personal choice. My husband always travels with a suit jacket but that is his preference. Given the possibility of 90+ degrees, it would be impractical in my opinion to take one.
Have a wonderful journey and please consider posting a critique afterwards. Enjoy!
Thanks for those suggestions. Are any of them part of the Week in Portugal itinerary, or are they all sites/activities to add in on our own?
