For wildlife we saw bears, bears, and more bears. Some of the bears were distant (glad we had binoculars—Our TD had some to lend for those who did not). Many of the bears were fairly close, and watching them walk, nap, even stand up occasionally and climb rocks was really extraordinary. We also saw ptarmigan and an arctic hare, but bears were the main event.
At the Lazy Bear Lodge you can put your room on a list and they will wake you up if the northern lights appear. They will also take you in a van away from the lights of the town for better viewing if it is a good display.

We were somewhat lucky since we did see northern lights but not a spectacular display. On our first night in Churchill the northern lights appeared, but by the time we were out they were already fading. As a result they did not use the van and we stood outside the lodge to observe for a while.
We went with another company quite a while ago which had more time on the tundra to view the polar bears.
