Just signed up for "La Belle Vie" 2028, looking for your thoughts

Even though this river cruise is way off in the distance (to say the least), I'd love to hear about the places that you found most special - whether they were on the published itinerary or not. Even if you found just one aspect of a visit particularly good, please feel free to share.

We'll be on the MS Harmonie. There's really no info on it, as it is yet to be built, but understand it is the sister ship of the MS Lumiere.

We did our first river cruise in 1993, with Tauck, a 2-nighter that was part of an Austria, Germany and Switzerland land tour (even recall our great tour guide, Charlie).

Our next river cruise wasn't till 2025, "Romantic Capitals: Prague to Paris," which was an absolutely marvelous trip.

We took this trip in the spring and really enjoyed it. Marseille is very nice. Worth spending a day wandering around the Old Port and the Panier district. We particularly liked wandering around https://empereur.fr/en/. It is like an old-time country store cut up into dozens of rooms and full of all sorts of interesting things. We bought soap there. Have fun.

We were on a different Tauck River cruise and loved visiting Les Halles Market in Lyon, so much so that we went back every day of our post-tour stay.

The lunch on the ranch in Camargue was excellent with a fabulous spread of local vegetables. The asparagus kept coming. The family was very gracious and engaging. The ride out on the ranch to see the very curious bulls was fun, too. The white horses are beautiful and are born completely black.

Hi Mark. We just returned from this tour last week. We enjoyed Marseille more than we expected. Luckily, we went in a day early and had a private tour of the city. The included Tauck tour was a bus tour that did not go to the basilica. Meeting the Count at the Chateau de Rully was fun. A highlight was the lunch in Lyon.
We spent an extra night in Geneva and had a guide take us to Chamonix where we took the cable car to Mont Blanc. Spectacular.
    Enjoy your trip.

We're on it next year on the Lumiere and they've changed the direction to starting in Geneva and ending in Marseille. I'm very interested in things to do on our own in both cities. Using Gift of Time at the front then we've requested a couple of extra days at the end while I work out what there is to do in Marseille. Seems like there are some interesting museums and maybe a boat ride to see the Calanques.
