Grand Australia and New Zealand

Hi,

For those who have been on this tour in 2026, can you tell me if a compact soft sided carryon with wheels meeting the required dimensions (20x15x10) or less are allowed in the cabin under the seat or in the overhead compartment in the charter flights? My husband and I have bad shoulders so a wheelie would be preferable to totes, duffles or backpacks. Did most people not have wheelies/

You're quoting the common size limitations for airlines. The luggage restrictions for your tour are:

For safety reasons, each guest is allowed:

One checked bag: maximum 50 lbs (23 kg)
    One small soft-sided, non-wheeled carry-on: maximum 11 lbs (5 kg)
Due to long distances and remote locations, delayed arrival of overland luggage by one or more days is possible.

Charter flight luggage limits may be stricter than those for your international or commercial flights. We recommend confirming all baggage allowances and packing according to the lowest weight and size limits applicable to your flights.

The risk is that on the chartered on-tour flights if a bag is too big for the overhead bins it may get gate checked. Even on carriers like Delta that will allow the larger wheeled bags on most of their planes, some of their short haul regional airlines have overhead bins too small for many wheeled carryons.

I too don't like to carry a heavy carryon bag. I normally use wheeled bag small enough to fit under the seat or I split my items into 2 small bags like a zippered tote and a purse or small backpack.

Thank you. I think I'm going to follow your suggestion and forego the wheelie. Interesting though, my final e-docs say maximum carry on weight 15 pounds for this tour.

That is interesting. The website doesn't always have the latest info.
