We came to Melbourne 2 days before the start of our tour. The day of our arrival we visited NGV Gallery, Queen Victoria Market and just walked around. The next day was our only full free day and we booked Penguin Parade experience with "Explore Australia", the next day Tauck tour was starting at 5:45 pm. We wanted to see Great Ocean Road, but all group tours would end much later that we needed so we booked a private tour with

We were picked up at 7 am and were back at our hotel (The Langham) by 4 pm. It was a great day. Rob showed us the best views on the Great Ocean Road and I highly recommend him and his company.
The Penguin Parade was a huge disappointment - we saw a total of 6 (yes SIX) penguins. There were 2 reasons for that: 1 - bird flu and 2 - we booked "Penguin Plus" experience, but the company sold more than they could get and they refunded our money. We ended up seating with about a thousand people and say 6 penguin come out of the ocean. We later talked to people on our tour who had "Penguin Plus" and they did see more penguins, but were also disappointed. The only good part of Penguin tour was a visit to "Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park" where we got to see koalas and feed wallaby and kangaroo.
