IPads and IPhones

Hello.

We are excited about our upcoming Barcelona to Paris trip in July! Does anyone know if we will need a special adapter for our IPhone or iPad chargers? We'd also like to connect with anyone else joining this small group tour in a few weeks!

  • You will not need a voltage converter. Almost all power adaptors for tablets and phones handle the higher voltage (check the label on the charger it should say something like 100-240v). As long as the higher number is 220v or more, you're good on voltage. You will probably need a plug adaptor (one with two round prongs), although many hotels have universal outlets on the desk in your room. There are many "universal adaptors" that have built in surge protectors. I like those for my electronics. They work just about everywhere (except India in my experience).
  • Hi mbeth,

Ken is quite correct about not needing a voltage convertor. You will need an adaptor plug (and a surge protector is never a bad idea, if you have room), but that should be it. Most electronics can now self-convert and can actually be damaged by using an additional convertor. Adaptor plugs can be purchased at most consumer electronic stores, through online travel accessory suppliers, and in retail locations at many airports. (Speaking personally for a moment, I'd advise you not to leave getting plug adaptors for the last minute — don't rely on the airport, although it's better than nothing if you realize once there that you've forgotten something.)

    I hope this helps!

Don't rely on the airport shops! Never was a truer word spoken, Tim! The horror stories are the stuff of nightmares ……..Urgh…… ;)
  • Thanks to Ken from Vegas. I've lost my laptop adapter due to voltage problem. But the sad part is I'm still not careful about it. I'll do my best to be careful
