Grand Canadian Rockies

We are considering this trip for 2017 and wondered when is the best time of year to go to experience the glaciers at their best. One reviewer said that the glacier was disappointing as he was standing in a pile of "slush"

Comments

  • The last time I visited the glaciers near Banff (about 6 years ago), they weren't slushy, but there were rivulets of melted water in the grooves of the glacier. Our guide (not Tauck) told us that drinking the pristine water would make us younger. I grabbed a travel cup from my purse and drank as much as I could. I looked the same but really enjoyed it. It certainly wasn't disappointing.
  • We did Tauck's Grand Canadian Rockies in June, 2013. Temperature on the glacier was about 40° and definitely not slushy.
