Hotel recommendations in Bruges/Brugge, Belgium?
This may be a long shot, but just seeing if anyone has a hotel or B&B recommendation for Bruges, Belgium? We plan to spend 2 nights in Bruges before beginning the "Belgium & Holland in Spring" River Cruise in Brussels next year. Thank You!!

Please consider the extraordinary and unique Hotel Van Cleef in Brugges. We had an exceptional visit there in 2019 (pre Covid) for our 2 nights visiting the Christmas markets. The hosts are outstanding, speak perfect English, and were so helpful when the trains went on strike and we couldn’t get to Paris for our ride home. They went above and beyond to assist us!
The hotel has some lovely rooms with little terraces that overlook the river and a wonderful breakfast and spectacular afternoon tea. When we arrived , we relaxed in the lovely lounge beside the beautifully decorated Christmas tree and enjoyed a drink and Hors d'oeuvres. A very warm and peaceful welcome.
The next day, Pascal arranged a walking tour of Bruges for us (in English) and it was the highlight of our trip!
Though we were only there a short time, we really felt at home.
We just took TAUCK’s Belgium and Holland Southbound. It was spectacular! We are from Miami and needed 3 more layers to feel warm! We did not have time to visit “our hotel” this time as we only did a quick visit to Bruges before heading to London. We can’t wait to stay there again. I really hope you enjoy your visit to Bruges, wherever you decide to stay.
Bon Voyage!
I’m so glad you had such a wonderful stay at the Van Cleef. I’ve been researching hotels there for a future stay and thought that would be perfect. Thanks!
Terrilynn, we stayed at the Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce a couple of years ago for two nights. It is less expensive than the above mentioned hotel but is filled with charm and is beautiful. The people there are very helpful and friendly.
Wherever you stay you will have the magic of walking at night in Bruges without any crowds. Excellent museums and, if you are into a bit of bicycling, you can rent bikes and follow a canal to Damme.
the moores -
glad to see you mention Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce as we booked it a few days ago. It is the #1 hotel on TripAdvisor and 1/2 the cost of the other hotel (which is the #2 hotel on TripAdvisor). It's also where the movie IN BRUGES was filmed - they stayed in room #10 we read. Both look great, but Relais is much more affordable for us. Thanks ontheroad24 for the recommendation also -- we just have to budget for these trips since we stay gone from work for 3 weeks when we travel to Europe.
