Denmark - Copenhagen Restaurant Recommendations
After our Norwegian Costal Cruise, we are going to stop in Copenhagen for a couple of days and i am looking for any restaurant recommendations. I hear Copenhagen has become a culinary destination. In particular we are thinking of wrapping our trip up with a reasonably affordable fine dining experience of local cuisine. I found "Host Restaurant" as a possibility. Does anyone have any experience with this restaurant or any other recommendations? Does Tauck have list of restaurant recommendations for Copenhagen? Thanks.

I do not have experience with Høst, but here are some other suggestions:
King Hans Cellar - an intimate setting and a great place to end your stay in København. There are pre-set menus with wine pairings as well as à la carte items.
Schønnemann’s - traditional smørrebrød.
When strolling about, try one of the ubiquitous sausage stands. One of my favorites is DØP - Den Økologiske Pølsemand.
Look for æbleskiver in pastry and coffee shops. They are small, puffed pastries…and delicious.
I have more suggestions but not in København.
Enjoy.
Not fine dining but an interesting local experience, you might want to check out this food market which a tour guide steered us to after our tour ended around lunch time. https://www.torvehallernekbh.dk/
Yes, and Reffen Food Market is very nice but a bit more expensive depending on your choice of food. For those who will be given tickets to Tivoli (different tour), there is also a market there. Actually, you might be able to access it without entering the park itself. Don’t remember.
Kfnknfzk - we’ll be in Copenhagen in August (not with Tauck, on a HAL ocean cruise). My husband is a hot dog fanatic so thanks for the suggestion of DØP, we’ll find it.
I just rewatched the Somebody Feed Phil episode filmed in Copenhagen and he did go to DOP for hotdogs. Obviously ate at several other places as well.
The show is on Netflix and the next season due to drop later this month. If you've never seen it the show features Phil Rothenthal who was the creator of the Everyone Loves Raymond tv series. He travels to various US and International cities to sample their food. Very funny and informative. In Dublin he ate at one of the restaurants we really enjoyed - The Boxty House. If you go to his website https://www.philrosenthalworld.com/ you can use the Cities dropdown that lists all the cities he's gone to and it will list all the places he ate. Handy if you don't have access to Netflix or want to write down the names of restaurants.
mfrancis - Your husband will be able to eat his way through København! There are sausage stands everywhere. The best ones in my opinion are those that offer a variety of sausages and toppings… red cabbage…delicious! My father ate red cabbage every single day.
Pigs outnumber people by 2:1 in Denmark. There is actually legislation that states pigs must be given toys to play with.
I’m sure you will go to Nyhavn. It is full of tourists but still a wonderful place to stroll, especially along the canal. You will find many eateries there.
Enjoy your visit!
