How to use daily credit for category 5 rooms
We’re going on the Douro cruise soon. How can we use the daily credit we receive for the Cat 5 room. Upgrades of alcohol? A massage at one of the hotels? Not sure where there is to spend it. Thanks.

There is not a daily credit but, rather, a €100 credit for use in either the limited spa or very small gift shop. I have never had to pay extra for wine. I don’t drink hard liquor, so I do not know if there is a charge for premium items. I have had some high-end brandy and never had to pay.
The credit can only be used on the Andorinha.
The gift shop has pretty jewelry & scarves, etc.
You can use it for laundry service.
You can also use it for spa services on board.
We used ours for laundry services and the balance we spent in the gift shop.
I forgot to mention the laundry service. I used it once for one item. The turnaround time was same day service.
The scarves and wallets make great gifts. I purchased a lovely watch for myself last time.
What can I get at the limited spa?
What services are available depends on the ship and staffing. The longer ships like Joy, Savor, etc that have a salon space typically offer more than the shorter ships like Treasure, Sapphire, that only have a massage treatment area. There will be a price list when you get on board and you can make reservations.
We used it all for laundry. (But I did purchase a scarf too.😉)
JanetBninerfan - I used the word ‘limited’ because the ship is so small relative to other Tauck ships and I thought I had received a hair wash and style. Wrong ship; the Andorinha does not have a spa. My apologies.

Thanks to all - we're on Villages and Vintages: Cruising the Douro River Valley aboard Andorinha next May as the 2nd leg of a Tauck back-to-back, the first being a land tour Northern Spain: Barcelona to Porto . . . for us, the comment about using the credit for laundry was spot-on (all puns intended).
