Local Currency?
I'm going on a July Classic safari, first time. I understand that I'll need US dollars for tipping the tour director, but is there any need to bring local Kenyan or Tanzanian currency for small items, or shopping in the villages?

All you need is dollars
Small denomination, newer U.S. dollars are all you need. You will find you will spend around $150,000 TZ shillings for dinner or around $60 U.S.. No way would I want to exchange for those currencies. charge what you can at the hotels.
