Packing for Ireland tour coming up in September
Might any of you have clothing tips for my husband and I traveling to Ireland in September? I know the weather can be quite changeable, and we already have our rain jackets with removable liners, but really nothing else specifically in mind yet. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much.

Hi Sandy, my husband and I did this trip in mid May. I checked the weather several times before we left and it was pretty accurate. I wore a dress and my husband wore a sport coat for the welcome dinner. He and one other man were the only ones with sport coats. For the farewell dinner, he wore slacks with a button down shirt and I wore some silky slacks with a nice top. For the rest of the trip, we packed slacks that dry quickly. My husband is a big fan of Kuhl brand pants and I wore pants that I bought from EMS (compass) several years ago. They are great because they don’t wrinkle, dry fast, lightweight so easy to pack. We wore the same outfit during the day for dinner that night. As you mentioned, we both had rain shells which also serve as a wind breaker and extra layer. Most days we started out with a short or long sleeve shirt with a lightweight layer over that. We love the Patagonia brand R shells. When rain was forecast, we brought our rain shells, but were lucky with very little rain. After the day warms up, just peel off that layer and you are good to go. You can either leave your extra layers on the bus or bring along a lightweight back pack to bring with you. I love the Osprey lightweight pack that folds really small. We each were offered a water each day on the bus and the hotels gave us as much bottled water as we wanted so sometimes I brought an extra water with us. I wore my sneakers, packed loafers for some of the dinners, and sandals. My husband wore his sneakers and packed a pair of casual (non sneakers) for some of the dinners. We packed some shorts, but didn’t end up wearing them. Also packed more long sleeves that short sleeves. We each brought a hat too. I know a lot of people mix and match their clothes, but I prefer to wear a fresh clothes each day, except for the extra outside layer. I did not want to worry about jewelry so just wore my wedding band, Apple Watch, several pair of earrings and a necklace. We each brought a carry on suitcase and one large checked bag (for both of us) and had plenty of room. I hope you love your trip as much as we did.
