i can’t get an idea of where the Tauck tours go.We hope to find other area tours to maximizing what we see.

  • Have you seen the itinerary, it’s generally pretty clear where you will go. It also says which meals you have to find on your own. Tipping advice will be on your final documents

  • British, thank you. The itinerary is a bit vague. I understand that specifics are given 2 months before the trip. According to one traveler this past spring, he bought numerous tours to see what Tauck didn’t include. I’m seeing various prices on Trip Advisor and Viator. I’m wondering what people spent, averagely, each day, just for added tours. Thanks!

  • CBoorhe, I’ve taken several tours of Italy with Tauck. I just checked out this tour, it is very very short. I don’t think what they say is that vague. You certainly won’t have time to do anything extra in Venice.
In Florence, it looks as of you are going to get included tickets to the Uffizi but you will do it on your own without a Tauck Director taking you. What else do you want to see….google to find out what there is, or buy a guide book, that will help. You may be able to see these things yourself without paying a guide.
Again, little time for you to see anything extra in Rome.
Food….if you want to eat cheaply, it’s easy. Personally, I’ve been to Rome a couple of times and it’s my least favorite place in Italy.
To be honest, this tour gives you a brief taste of Italy, it is too short. Of you can afford it, pick another tour.

  • Thank you so much, British. Yes, the shortness of each day does limit us. I thought we’d go out early before the tours to do walk-by’s. I’m sorry the tunnels in Rome won’t be open until 2027.
Another Forum writer said that a couple of the tours did not include going into the churches or museums. When I called they told me to wait until we arrived and to ask the Tour Guide, but I’m hoping to know more detail so we can prioritize.

  • I am a first time solo traveler on the tour starting September 7th. I am hoping to connect with other single women and looking for any travel tips for solo travelers.

  • CBoothe - I took this tour and absolutely loved it! I went a day or two early - I took a Viator tour of Murano and Burano on my free day in Venice and just walked around a lot on my other day. I felt like I had quite a bit of free time in Florence...I did walking tours by myself of the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens and then the Santa Croce church and saw Michelangelo's tomb as well as the others there. In Rome we had an entire afternoon to ourselves and I, and some others on the tour, walked all over - Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Parthenon, etc...I haven't done as many tours as British, but felt like there was more than enough time to see all the extras I wanted to see. Rome was my least favorite city of the three, largely because all of the things you want to see are sort of plunked down in the middle of a big city, but I was glad to have seen everything I did. Again - I just loved this tour and typically do not like the cities as much as smaller towns and countryside, but those particular cities are something everyone should see and come to appreciate for what they are and represent.

  • AdellaGregg - I'm a solo traveler in 29 tours I never had a problem being included by others in the tour even couples, just be yourself and have a great time, like British said is a very short tour, you will busy.

  • Jane, thank you! The Viators look great. I was thinking of skipping the Tuscany day tour, but it sounds like there is enough time to see much of Florence.
To prepare for all steps (mostly in Rome?) do you recommend stairmaster training. (I walk about 5 miles a day, though not on cobblestone.)
Any walking shoes and evening women’s shoes recommended?
