LUGGAGE AND KOH SAMUI
My wife and I are book for a Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand March 2026 tour, and I have two questions:
I have difficulty carrying my luggage over long distances, and never up stairs. I'm told Tauck arranges to have it carried to and from the airports, busses, and hotel rooms. How dependable is that?
We're planning on flying from Bangkok to Koh Samui island after the tour ends, and staying at a Hyatt Regency for another week. Has anyone done that? If so, how easy was it to fly to and from Koh Samui?
Thanks

Tauck handles you luggage from start to finish.
I did the Vietnam Cambodia and Laos tour with Tauck some years ago and Vietnam and Cambodia with another company more recently. The challenging part of this area of the world is the very extreme humidity, the worst I’ve encountered anywhere.
Tauck takes care of all aspects of luggage handling.
You might look at taking a pre-tour excursion to Ha Long Bay. If you're going to go all the way to Hanoi you shouldn't miss Ha Long Bay.
Here's our trip to Ha Long Bay - a day trip. You can do an overnight, also. https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2024-1Vietnam-01.htm
Yes, while on tour Tauck handles the luggage the majority of time. However, on arrival at the tour start you have to get it from airport baggage claim, thru customs and on to the meeting point with the transport driver. If they are only picking up 1-2 people the driver will often wheel it to the vehicle for you. Sometimes that's close and sometimes a bit of a hike. If there are several guests obviously the driver can't handle them all. Upon the tour end in every case we've had (all European trips) the transport service drops you and your luggage on the sidewalk of the airport. You're on your own after that. At the hotel, your luggage may be delivered to your room when you aren't there and they might or might now put it on a luggage rack. My spouse or I usually end up having to lift, rearrange, etc our bags in the room.
Long story short, there will be times you'll have to be able to lift and move your luggage yourself so pack wisely. I try very hard to limit the amount and weight of my luggage because I know there will be periods I'll need to deal with it.
And when there are on tour flights, you will probably need to take your luggage to the check in counter and, sometimes to a security scan, and claim it upon arrival.
