Greece
I'm scheduled for the trip to Greece & Turkey in September on the Windstar. I have taken a couple of river cruises with tauck, but not on a small ship like the Windstar. I would like to hear from you that have taken this trip or been on the Windstar with Tauck what you thought? I'm not a water person as far as being in the waters such as oceans and lakes, so i'm a little anxious. Also, I went to Greece 3 years ago with EF Tours and when we went to the Acropolis, it was a disaster as far as being able to walk comfortably on the marble. People were falling everywhere! I would love any insight you could give me on this trip. Thanks

I have not been to Greece, I do plan to go but I’ve seen the replica of the Parthenon in Nashville, No crowds😂

The Windstar is probably the smallest and oldest (40 years) of the "Wind" ships. The cabins are very small, there's no elevator, and you have to go outside to get to the restaurant. It's not a "modern" ship at all.
You can think of it as the Volkswagen beetle of ships. It will get you there, but not in Cadillac style.
If there’s an option of some other ship, I’d take that one. We were on that ship in 2024. You can see our trip at - https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2024-2Athens-01.htm
[While this has nothing to do with the ship, the dinner at Ephesus was very nice - https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2024-2Athens-02.htm#EphesusDinner ]
I was raised is Nashville, TN so yes I have been the Parthenon many times there. Thanks
Wow, what a coincidence!
We took the Istanbul to Greece tour in April. It was excellent. I did post a trip report, which you can find in the Mediterranean and Greece section of this forum. The cruise portion of the tour was on the Star Legend, which my husband and I really liked.
Question: if you are not comfortable on the water why would you book a trip that involves sailing in a small ship on the ocean? Where you are sailing is not a lake. There will be waves and on a small ship like the Windstar you’ll definitely feel it, more so if your cabin is toward the front of the ship. As far as visiting the Acropolis-they have not repaved it last I checked. If it’s wet out it will be slippery. If it’s dry there are many places to catch a toe and trip. Wear shoes with good tread, watch where you walk.
Did this trip last Sept and would do it again in a heartbeat! Very comfortable, wonderful excursions, great ambiance, super meals, wonderful TD, VERY educational, all coming from a young 76 year old. Trust me, you’ll have a blast! Can not get over Ephesus!!! Fabulous trip. It was our 7th with Tauck.
