October Trip To Morocco

We're arriving the day before our tour begins in Rabat. Any suggestions for a half day tour before our group meets for dinner? Trip Advisor has a couple 3-hour city tours by Green Taxi. It appears no rain gear is needed (smile)!

Thanks in advance!

We used a company called Pure Morocco (also from Viator / Trip Advisor) for a half day tour in Rabat before meeting our group. They supplied both a driver and a tour guide for the two of us for a very reasonable price. Because it was private we asked them not to duplicate too much from our upcoming Rabat visits with Tauck, and the guide mostly complied. We did get a great introduction to the culture of Morocco (from his perspective) and saw a lot of Rabat that we wouldn't have with Tauck. We spent the rest of our time enjoying the hotel restaurants and relaxing / recharging for the start of the tour. On the first night we walked around the corner to a little family restaurant called Sufra for dinner, which we enjoyed. Have a great trip, we loved this tour.

  • Chris, thanks so much for your suggestions. Sounds like a terrific plan, we'll follow in your footsteps!

  • We will be there in Oct. Thxs for the info.

  • Just a couple more food notes if you're interested, for free nights without group dinners. In Fes, Dar Hatim is one of the top restaurants in the medina and will pick you up and return you to the hotel if you make reservations / arrangements ahead of time. It's an unassuming home from the outside but inside has spectacular tile work and great food. In Marakesh, we loved Sahbi Sahbi, a female owned and run restaurant that has been one of the "hot" restaurants there in recent years. Also requires a reservation. Hope you all have a great trip.

  • Thanks, Chris! Just started to make independent reservations outside the actual tour. It's always good to network with others!

  • Mary Margaret McClure - please post about your trip when you get back. We are booked on this trip next April. Enjoy your trip.

  • La Mamounia in Marakesh is amazing. Multiple restaurants, gorgeous old gardens with palm trees that have been there for centuries. It is the hotel where Churchill met FDR during g the Casablanca Conference during WW2

  • Interesting! Thanks so much!
