London Morning Sightseeing

Day 2 description:
Morning sightseeing gives you a good introduction to the major landmarks (such as Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and more)

Are these places all viewed from a bus or are there stops?
About what time do you return to the hotel for your free afternoon?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • You will be on a bus, if it does not say visit, then it’s a driveby

  • Reading Tauck itineraries is a bit of an art.

Unless it says "enjoy a guided tour of" it's mostly just a drive by.

If it says something about the afternoon or rest of the day being free and Lunch isn't provided by Tauck that day, then you'll be back to the hotel about lunch time.

FYI, if there is a sight you want to stop and visit on your own, tell the TD you want to get off the coach near that sight. We did that at the Tower of London. You'll have to find you own way back to the hotel though - walking, subway, uber, river ferry boat, etc. Good to know ahead of time how to use public transport options.

  • Hi, Tarry.

I don’t remember what time we returned to the hotel (Savoy) in 2023, but it was around lunchtime. There are many options for meals in Covent Garden. We had a very nice afternoon tea at the Savoy. I don’t know if that is where you are staying. Regardless, there are many places for tea if that interests you.

It is a wonderful tour. Enjoy.

  • We had a panoramic bus highlights tour when I took this trip earlier this year. We did make a stop at St. Paul's Cathedral and had a guided tour inside. I don't remember the exact time we got back to the hotel, but I did have time to walk around that afternoon and visit a museum in the area.
