Charter carryon restrictions

Hello, We leave for Auckland in 57 days! The general documentation says roll-on carry-on may be difficult and may not fit in the hold, resulting in awkward/expensive land transfer. While this is not mentioned in the personalized docs. I called Tauck, they only referred to the published info. My wife is balking at using a duffel as her carry-on (first class problems) The overheads on Embraer 165's are small and the docs say 15lbs. Anyone with interisland charter experience? I've read about some for Hawaii and Antarctica from a cruise perspective. THANKS

I never heard of roll-ons not fitting in the hold. That's where the checked luggage pieces go. Do you mean overhead bins?

I leave for that tour tomorrow, my small backpack will work fine, I’m not concerned and never use roll-along for carry on. There are plenty of opportunities for doing your own laundry on the tour so a smaller carry on is doable.
