Just a small point. Ships are not “it”. Ships are “her”. Even military ships that are ‘men of war’, they are referred to as ‘her’. All ships are female.
Funny, more modern language “it” is used for ships. Also, ship in French is masculine. I’m sticking with “it”, but thanks for trying to correct a very small, old, quant point.
The name of the ship makes no difference. I landed on eleven aircraft carriers. The first four were named after battles in the American revolution. The rest were named after male politicians. They were all “her”.Going back in history ships were named after goddesses, Thats why they are all female. The French of course do their own thing, but the name “Le” does not make them male. Your ship was your protector. That made her a ‘her’.
