Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Hotel - Aswan
If staying at the Old Cataract Hotel is something you were looking forward to, you need to do this tour in 2026. I just noticed that in 2027 the hotel in Aswan will be the Movenpick Aswan. The Old Cataract is a beautiful hotel and a highlight to this already amazing tour. :'(

The Old Cataract was one of favorite hotels!
I’ve stayed at a couple of Movenpick hotels with Tauck. They must have been given a good deal going forward.
On the Jewel of the Nile tour 2026, we don't even stay in Aswan overnight. They fly us back to Cairo. They sent us a letter and said the hotel could not accommodate us due to on-going renovations.
The Old Cataract was indeed a treat. I'm glad the Petra to Pyramids tour was there for two nights. The history, the room, the views......spectacular. I've stayed at a Movenpick hotel on a Tauck tour...I don't recall anything specific.
The hotels in India and Nepal are over the top as well. I can close my eyes and see every beautiful detail. I'm looking forward to the Singapore tour. The India/Nepal TD told me the hotels on that tour are over the top spectacular. I've stayed at the Raffles in Singapore on a previous holiday and I'll get to experience the Raffles during the VCT tour.
Back to the Old Cataract...it's one of the hotels that would be great as a pre or post tour hotel so you could really enjoy the hotel and the amenities for a bit longer. The problem is it is so far out of the way from everything else...or I guess that could be the ultimate relaxing holiday--a trip to the Old Cataract hotel.
We are on the small group tour in November. We just received word from Tauck that because of the renovations underway, we will be staying in Palace wing garden view rooms rather than the Nile wing. In addition, the 1902 restaurant, the Bar and Spa will be closed during our visit. The small group tours only spend one night at the Old Cataract and I’m sure it will still be lovely.
I’m just hoping for a little more clarity on the whole Middle East situation before our final payment is due in August.
How does the war affect Hawaii?
