Current Reviews.

We are looking to book the 2027 Romantic Germany trip. Currently the forum has many good reviews, many of which are 10 years old. If anyone has taken this trip within the last 3 years, it would be great to learn about your experience. Thanks very much.

Thanks, Goddess. What were your favorite cites, towns, excursions, etc.? It appears there is quite a bit of free time on this trip. Any recommendations on must-see things to do?

What I wouldn't miss: Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, walking around Rothenburg and on the town walls, see as much as you can of Dresden (I got tickets on site for the Old Green Vault - Tauck takes you to the New Green Vault.), the Nefertiti Bust at the Neues Museum in Berlin. I love churches, so I go in to as many as I can - they are museums to me, not for the religious aspect. The Cathedral in Berlin is special. If you have lunch at the Cafe at Neues Schloss Meersburg at Lake Constance/Meersburg, venture into the museum rooms and chapel. Visit Rausch Chocolate House in Berlin - you won't regret it.

    Enjoy!

My husband and I took this tour 3 years ago and really enjoyed it. I did post a trip report on this forum.
I reviewed the 2027 tour and I see that there have been some changes. On day 2, there is touring of both Rudesheim and Frankfurt. I think that is a plus. When we went, Tauck did not include any touring of Frankfurt, which i thought was odd. Independently, we took a walking tour, which was interesting. As a tradeoff, the 2027 tour eliminates the short Rhine River boat cruise that we took from Rudesheim. While the boat cruise was pleasant, I don't think it is much of a loss. That section of the Rhine is not too exciting, and Frankfurt is much more interesting.
The 2027 tour also adds a night in Munich and eliminates a one night stay on Lake Alpsee. I liked the Lake Alpsee stop, near King Ludwig's castles. However, Munich is lively and interesting.

Sawade Chocolate is another option in Berlin, with several locations; claims to be the oldest chocolate shop in the city, famous for its marzipan.
