Glacier visit?

Friends who have taken this tour in the past talked about visiting a glacier. I've also seen a reference to that in a post on this forum, but my itinerary for the August 25 departure only mentions driving the Icefields Parkway between Jasper and Lake Louise.
Has anyone taken the Grand Canadian Rockies tour (Eastbound) this year and made a stop on a glacier?
Unrelated to that question, have the men felt a need to have a sportscoat at the hotels, or would slacks, nice shirt, and maybe a sweater suffice? I took a blazer on our Seine River cruise last spring and was glad I had it, but this tour seems more casual.

    It has been quite a few years but we did make a stop at the Athabasca Glacier as we drove along the gorgeous Icefields Parkway. Even if not expressly indicated within the itinerary, Tauck loves to spring surprises as you probably know.

    Regarding attire, unless you plan on dining independently at one of the finer hotel restaurants in Banff or Lake Louise, you will be fine without a jacket. My husband never travels without one but that is simply his style.

    We enjoyed this tour so much that we took it twice and I hope to do it a third time. Enjoy.

    It’s years since we took the tour too, but we did go to the glacier. If you don’t get answers here, then feel free to call Tauck and ask.

    Bob, we took this fabulous tour a couple years ago and took a walk on the Athabasca Glacier after being dropped off from the Ice Mover on top of the glacier. No Yak-Trax needed to move about, I wore my athletic shoes.

    It's a very casual tour....perhaps a golf/polo shirt, sweater, and khaki pants for the first and last dinner evenings. You do stay at Fairmont Hotels which are beyond lovely.

    We took the tour in July and had postcard picture-perfect weather! Have the best time ever, it's a winning tour!
