A major earthquake 6.8-7.1 magnitude hit Japan today - looks like it was in the south.

It's not where Tauck visits. Earthquakes are very common in Japan, one happened when I was there in a penthouse suit at the top of a hotel years ago. My husband was there in huge earthquake near Osaka many years ago. Most modern buildings there are built on ‘springs’ that kind of shake the quake out of the top of the buildings like when a dog shakes its body when it gets wet. Exactly what my husband said the second time he was in one. Probably the best country to experience a quake for survival.

Hi Schwartz, my wife & I will also be on the Oct 17th trip! We arrive into Tokyo on Oct 15th and our intent is to carry on.

I have to say that I am amazed that people can do a 13 day trip - essentially two weeks given travel days and potential early arrival - with only a carry on! I could never do that!

We’ve been on several three week trips with people that just take carry on. So freeing, but I’ve only managed carry on once

I honestly cannot even fathom...with toiletries, electronics, a camera, at least two pairs of shoes, a fleece or sweater...that's like two outfits you could pack! I couldn't do it...and really don't think I'd want to. I do not want to be doing laundry at every hotel and while I usually wear everything I've packed, I like having a few options...

Tauck's Essence of Japan was the best trip my wife and I ever took. You'll gain a great understanding of Japan and its people. We loved sleeping on the floor and the hot baths in the mountains.
