Bridges tour doing NOTHING in Rome

Or look for other tour providers that provide what you want. Might be more expensive but better than missing things you want the kids to see.

When long time customers like myself comment that tours are including less and less but costing way more, others disagree. I also don’t think Tauck has the clout/influence it used to have to include special extras. The type of customer must be changing. Many seem to have staying in top hotels as a priority on tours as mentioned here on the forum over and over again. I am not that kind of traveller, I want to see and do as much as possible and on longer tours. I asked Jennifer Tambaigh about this on one of the video forums and they don’t have any plans to do it. So I look at other tour companies too these days. I find that the tours are longer and not rushed, they do not start the day at ungodly hours like Tauck tend to do just to have a ‘free’ afternoon. Instead, you get enough sleep, start the day more rested and see way more and don’t have to mess around trying to see things on your own that Tauck misses out
We still travel with Tauck but more selectively. .

I’m not sure we can afford to take our family on any more Bridges tours, but if we did, I had been looking at the two Italy tours they offer for Bridges. I’m personally not a lover of Rome and yet I’m sure my grandchildren would love to see the Colosseum.
Personally I just think other parts of Italy are much more interesting and more reflective of what Italy really is like. I feel the same about Paris, I much prefer every other part of France I have visited to get a feel of what France is all about. I’m not saying those cities are not worth a visit but maybe going independently for at least a week, staying in one hotel and trying to see everything you are interested in is a better way to do it. Much cheaper, no difficult travel planning to work out, you can stay in a hotel and eat on your particular budget etc. But these cities do not reflect on how the rest of the country is all about. Just imagine someone visiting New York and nowhere else in the US, does that really represent what our country is like?

I thought that until you see not all tours are included, and I think alcohol package and tips. Not when I last compared anyway. Plus, it depends if you want to go with mainly French people.

That is part of the problem for you — Tauck does not want to repeat events that are covered by other tours - my understanding is that they do so to "encourage" you to also take the other tour if you want that event.

I agree with Jowell. What does Tauck expect? That you take all of their tours just so you can see the sites in the various cities included in a tour?

If Tauck takes you to Rome, they should take you to the major sites, even if another Tauck tour does the same sites.
