Has anyone done the Petra to the Pyramids tour in the past few months? What was the safety like? Any concerns?
Thank you
Tourism is a very important revenue source for both countries. They're going to take good care of you. And anyone who does anything to cause tourist to stop coming is not going to get any support in the population. So, in general, terrorists do not attack tourist because they lose the support of the people.
I'm going to Egypt in a few months, mainly to see the GEM (plus a few other things in Cairo). I'm not worried about security.
Tauck won't put you in harm's way.
I am on a tour that kicks off in the next two weeks- will report back! To the points above, I’m not as worried once we get there- it’s nervousness that flights will be cancelled for some reason. Fingers crossed!
Just returned from Egypt and there were no issues there. We had security with us at each stop and there was visible security at airports, hotels, restaurants and all tourist sites. The only area that even remotely sounded like it "could" have issues was near the Sudanese border, but we were not there for very long.
We are in Jordan now- feels very safe. It’s actually sad- they said they are at roughly 25% capacity right now when this is the height of the season. The Kempinski is a stunning hotel but it was so empty it felt depressing. Some of the tourist sites (Jerash in particular) have no one there so you get to really experience it in a unique way. They do have a tourism police officer traveling with us- when I asked why we had an escort I was told it’s mainly to create jobs.
Most people on the tour had some hesitation about traveling to the Middle East but there was only 1 cancellation so our group is full!
Thank you for your responses. I think Jordan is my main concern, Tauck is wonderful. I was curious if anyone has done this tour in the past few months and what it was like.
thank you. Please report back. I would appreciate it. My husband is worried about cancelled flights, I am safety concerns overall
