South Africa, An Elegant Adventure

We are one week away from our "Elegant Adventure". We will arrive a day early in Cape Town. Actually, we will probably arrive at about 11:00PM on the 24th. of October, after about 25 hours of traveling. We have scheduled massages at the Cape Grace, mid-afternoon on 10/25, to help shed the jet lag syndrome. Looking forward to new experiences and memories. The Cape Grace and the surrounding area look phenomenal, as do Kruger and Victoria Falls.

Our car service is going to pick us up at 10;00 AM. That will begin our 25 hour trip to Africa. we have scheduled massages after our arrival to soften the jet lag. looking forward to meeting new travelers

Just got back from this trip. Fantastic !
We got to Cape Town a day early. Our rooms were ready at 2pm. We rested for the afternoon and went out to dinner on wharf as per recommendation from hotel.
Next day we did double decker bus tour and aquarium on our own. Tour started in evening with cocktails and dinner.

We used credit cards for dinners and the hop on hop off bus tour. But we had local currency for incidentals - a drink at a bar, tips,etc

We got 400 in rand at atm in johansburg
That’s approximately $40
We went to African market there to buy souvenirs on free afternoon , it was towards end of trip so we didn’t have to carry souvenirs everywhere.. definitely bargain there. The merchants expect you to bargain with them.
We used credit cards everywhere else.
