Just back from the Pura Vida tour, which was wonderful. Stayed at the Grano de Oro Hote--loved it! Came in a day early; took a cab ($4) to the National Museum, which provides a great overview of Costa Rican history, and leisurely walked back to the hotel, viewing some of the historic buildings and whimsical and serious statues along the way. Others on our trip enjoyed the docents in period dress tour of the National Theater. Got back to the hotel with time to enjoy the roof terrace and jacuzzi. The Sabana Park is just a few blocks in the other direction from the hotel. Lots of fun finding your way as there is very little street signage in the city!
We did the Panama Canal small boat tour and stayed at the Marriott in San Jose. Spectacular place. We had no inclination to leave that resort to go anywhere.
