For those of you who have already gone to K&T and are photography buffs, is it necessary to have a 300 mm lens. We have one but it is quite bulky. Let me know your thoughts

IMHO … yes. I take one lens to Africa, a 70-300mm zoom. Many times you will be close to the animals, but others will not be so close. Our best leopard encounter was too far for anything less.

  • I took a 100 - 400mm on my crop frame Nikon. You'll want at least 300mm, especially if you have a full frame camera.

  • I’ll be taking my 16-300mm lens on my Canon Rebel T7i. It should be suitable for my needs.

  • I have a 16-300 mm Tamron lens which has a pretty wide range wide-angle to tele. I use it with my Canon- everywhere, all the time, I never use other lenses any more. You really don't want to change lenses in a dusty, bouncy safari vehicle..
