Then we will be there for the funeral. We’re staying at the Taj, right around the corner from Westminster and a block or so away from the back of the palace and the mews. Not sure what we’ll do. Hate to be a gawker but the funeral will be historic.

    Gourmet Gal-
Prior to the funeral, the queen will lie in state at Westminster Hall in the parliament building. You can pay your respects, if you're willing to brave the long queue.

Yes, we’re considering it but we fly in from SF the day before the funeral and may not be up to standing for hours. Still not sure if it’s better to hunker down in a pub and watch the proceedings on TV or try to catch a glimpse of the cortege.

London is a very walkable city. Consider taking yourself on a spontaneous stroll and take in history……then go to the pub!

The problem is, even with walking, streets may be impassable in some areas. We’ve had that experience all over the world with all type of majors events, today in fact in Singapore, the bus could not go down a few streets and we had to have our walking tour diverted due to an upcoming event. You should be able already to see the planned route on line and maybe a lost of road closures, and expect London to be very crowed with people from all over the country on the day of the funeral
