Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Currency
When we went to Egypt, the tour company guides gave us a small amount of Egyptian pounds to use for tips. I don't remember getting or needing any more. Mike (View Post)1 -
Re: Feedback from recent travelers on this cruise--interested in May 2026 cruise South to North
The two cruises are only a week apart so I guess weather won't be a lot different. We're thinking of going north just so we can go a few days early and see more of Malta. Of course, that co… (View Post)1 -
Re: Feedback from recent travelers on this cruise--interested in May 2026 cruise South to North
I'm looking at that cruise for 2026, also. I agree about the hotels. Last time we were in Malta (on a Tauck Tour) we stayed at the Phoenicia, which was very well located and an excellent hotel. … (View Post)1
