Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Food on Portrait of India
On all the tours I've been on, they bent over backwards to meet the dietary needs of the guests. I love all types of Asian foods but my wife is not as fond of most of it. (View Post)1 -

Sadly, the UK is declining compared to the other countries in Europe. Leaving the EU has been a real mistake for them. (View Post)1 -
Re: We just booked Tuscany & Umbria for 2024 & would love some Venice & Florence hotel recommendations
For less expensive hotels you can stay in Mestre and take a (crowded) bus to Venice in the morning. But it really is nice to stay on the island. And try to find Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo in Venice… (View Post)1 -
Re: We just booked Tuscany & Umbria for 2024 & would love some Venice & Florence hotel recommendations
We stayed in the Hotel Metropole (in Venice) and I would not recommend it. The hotel is old and has a lot of history so if that's what you're interested in, the hotel might be right for you… (View Post)1
