Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Cell Service in Japan?
I have ATT and took their "International Plan" which is $10/day. No problems in Japan - my phone works as if it was in the United States. I think Verizon offers something similar. (View Post)1 -

Re: Tauck Survey—Short Trips
If you want to do the survey a second time - for example, you want to say something you forgot to say the first time - open an incognito window and you'll be able to re-do the survey. The incogn… (View Post)1 -
Re: Tauck Survey—Short Trips
Instead of short tours, why doesn't Tauck offer more pre and post-tour excursions that would mate perfectly with existing tours? a good example might be a visit to Ha Long Bay on the Vietnam, Ca… (View Post)2
