Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Electronic Travel Authorization Requirement When Flying Through LHR
The ETA is not very expensive, easy to apply for, and good for two years. It's a good thing to have in your travel kit. (View Post)3 -
D-Day
Today (June 6) is the anniversary of the Allied invasion of Europe (1944). The war in Europe would last until May 8, 1945, a bit less than a year after the invasion. (View Post)1 -

Re: Is it time to boycott cash tips to get Tauck to join the modern era?
The first rule of accepting tips is "Don't make it hard for someone to give you money." I'm sure they'll take the tip in any form of money and be happy to receive it. (View Post)3
