Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Airfare wisdom?
I just checked LAX to Tokyo, returning from Osaka (to LAX) and the fare for business class was just under $5,000. You might consider flying to a major airport, like LAX, and see what fare you get. Th… (View Post)1 -
Re: Bait and Switch for Switzerland Tour of September 7 to 17 2023
I agree with this. All we did in Geneva and Zurich was go from and to the airport. It would have been nice to spend at least one day in each city. (View Post)1 -
Re: Upcoming Jordan Egypt trip
On my trips to those areas, there was always an armed policeman in civilian clothes with the group. That's mainly to protect you from criminals, not terrorists. So be aware of the situation befo… (View Post)2
