Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Money
Thanks for checking for me. Piaster was what the French used when they were there and the Vietnamese in the south kept the term. But that was a long time ago. (View Post)1 -
Re: Air New Zealand: NOT Recommended
Yes, I just wasn't specific enough. What I meant was that the default was to sell you a ticket. I was aware that I could get to the seat maps but it was an extra step. In the original seatguru, … (View Post)1 -
Re: Leather in Morocco
A woman on our tour bought a handbag and wanted it modified. They modified it to her specifications and delivered it to the hotel. She was happy with what they did. I'm sure they will do a lot t… (View Post)1
