Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Money
Okay, one more money question. Back when I was in Vietnam, the exchange rate for US dollars was 400 Dong to $1.00US. Today, it looks like it's 24,000 Dong to $1.00US. When the Vietnamese quote a… (View Post)1 -
Re: Money
Thanks for checking for me. Piaster was what the French used when they were there and the Vietnamese in the south kept the term. But that was a long time ago. (View Post)1
