Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Water purification
Thank you, Jack, for your kind words about my blog. I try to do a good job on it, both for us (as a scrapbook) and for others who might be considering the same trip. I blog all of our travel. (View Post)1 -

Just a side comment on the Silver Origin - the Deluxe Veranda suites are very nice and recommended. Big, lots of storage space, a "Horizon Window" and an electrically opaqued window in the … (View Post)0 -
Re: Looking for advice/comments from spring 2022 travelers
Almost all modern ships make their own water from reverse osmosis. The Silver Origin does - I asked the chief engineer on the ship. That water is absolutely safe. For the Peru part of the tour, Tauck… (View Post)0 -
Re: Lake Como Venice Florence Rome Sept 19
The towns on Lake Como are, in general, built on the hillside. There can be some up and down walking to see parts of the towns. I was there some years ago and don't remember all of it. (View Post)1 -
