Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Bike Ride Question - for 2022 travelers
Six hours for 13 miles? An experienced cyclists can easily ride 15 MPH or more. There must be a lot of stops for that bike ride. Even if they rode 13MPH that's only one hour for the ride. If the… (View Post)-2 -
Re: Silver Origin
We did that trip with Tauck on the Silver Origin back in September 2021 - there were only 10 Tauck people on the tour. The silver Origin was great. To answer a couple of AlanS questions, I think peop… (View Post)1 -
Re: Useful article on testing Covid positive abroad
We recently came back from Morocco. The Tauck literature said that the antigen test (for the flight home) would cost about $150 and would have to be paid in local currency (if I remember correctly). … (View Post)1
