Morocco - Blue City Day Trip
We kinda messed up and didn't plan to incorporate the Blue City as a pre/post day trip for our upcoming travel to Morocco later this year. Wondering if anyone did do a day trip from Rabat upon early arrival. We do have one pre and one post day, but at the current time they are both intended for relaxation. For those who may have gone to Blue City I would love to hear your thoughts on trying to make this work (thus giving up my relaxation days). Guessing it would be best from Rabat vs. Marrakesh.

With the extra day at the beginning we walked around Rabat, went to the medina and the souk as well as the kasbah. It was a great introduction to Morocco. Tauck does take you through medinas and souks ( the best one is inFes), but there is not a lot of time to linger and just take it all in. It is such a different world . We just came back from this tour ( last one of the spring) and No one on our tour went to the blue city. It is a 3-4 hour trip from any of the Tauck cities. Sitting by the pool in Rabat and having lunch is a worthy endeavor. Also - use only bottled water , even for brushing teeth. A word to the wise! The extra day at the end- all of us lounged around at the 4 Seasons in Marrakesh- a magnificent property.
LindaMarie, Hi.
I went to Morocco with Tauck before the pandemic and this tour it's incredible.
The blue city it's about 4 hours each way from Rabat or Fez.- it is something different, but not worth the driving time.
There is a lot to see in both Rabat & also Fez/Fes, it can be spell both ways.
But, in Rabat if you enter the gated city- not the Medina the actual Kasbah Oudaya, you can see some blue houses as well.
In Rabat you can visit:
This are some pics of the blue houses at the Kasha Oudaya
