I live in central Michigan. The air quality alerts vary by the day--and we've only had 5-6 really bad days all summer. If a person has respiratory problems, then they probably will experience effects from the smoke. If not, then no problem. Also, I have heard people with allergies complaining about increased congestion on the "bad air" days. Maybe an N95 mask would help on the "bad air" days? But, the Great Lakes is a beautiful area and Mackinac Island is a gem! Hope you still go on the trip.

When are you going? If it’s more than a couple of weeks away, then it’s too soon to make any assumptions.
