Doha layover

We are on the Tanzania-Zanzibar safari. Does Tauck offer any helpful suggestions on what to do in Doha for layovers over 9 hrs? Such as what companies to use for private tours, whether a visa is needed to exit and re entry? We are flying business class on Qatar.

Hi! If you go in the upper right corner and use the Search field and type Doha you will find a lot of discussions on this airport. Many people rave about it. I'm taking this trip in 2026, but flying Delta via Amsterdam to and then Paris on the way home. Enjoy!

Tauck does not offer any advice about what to do at airports. People use several different airlines to get to Tanzania and even with Qatar airlines, it would depend on the schedules of where you are arriving to Doha from. Our flight last year only gave us a couple of hours before our ongoing flight. It can vary from year to year too.
I’m thinking that the Delta flight via Amsterdam is still the most popular way to get there. Our first time to Tanzania with Tauck in 2007, we booked flights through Tauck and the airline they had a contract with was Delta. It took us the next visit before we discovered Qatar. We would never do the Delta Amsterdam route again.
Our inclination is never to leave the airport between flights. Particularly in Doha, the security is so tight, any thought of going through it last minute gets me worried.
I’ve been to Qatar country and you don’t need a visa.
