Does anyone who’s been on Mexico City/Oaxaca trip have a recommendation between choosing tour of Monte Alban vs visiting local family demonstrating rug dyeing/weaving? Both look good to me.

Having been to Mexico numerous times, I would choose the textile excursion. Oaxaca has some very talented artisans who are known for their colorful and beautiful crafts.
Sample as much of the local cuisine as you can. For those who are familiar with Rick Bayless from the food channel, he frequently traveled to Oaxaca to film his shows.
I have not been to the archeological site so can’t comment on that.
