Should we tip the airport pick-up person that takes us to our hotel before the cruise begins

I know that the "tips" in general are covered, but not sure about from Airport to Hotel or Hotel to the boat.

  • It is completely discretionary. We have extended a gratuity at times when the service has been exemplary and the driver has been engaged with us. Some have even pointed out things along the way from the airport to the hotel.

If staying at the Tauck designated hotel, Tauck will transport you to the ship. No gratuity.

  • Same as kfnknfzk. No need to tip but we have tipped when the driver was helpful with information during the ride.

  • As an aside but still on topic, when we were driven from Heathrow to our hotel, it was shortly before Charles’ coronation. Many of the roads were subsequently blocked. Our driver commented that we were his last customers for the day and proceeded to give us a very nice introduction to the city on roads he was able to navigate. He initially declined our gratuity but my husband insisted.

He was so thorough that we skipped Tauck’s orientation drive and took a lovely stroll along the Thames instead. Those simple and unexpected acts of kindness are what make our travels so special. And another reason why I travel with some local currency.
